I suggested to zombie that the units are somehow incorporated into the OFP WARFARE so the different island terrain textures on can have troops with appropriate camo. Twisted Evil

it's possible, which textures and which sla units? They have to be the same for the entire world unfortunatly

they are unit groups, which means they can be different, i think.

it would be great to put desert on Nogova, urban on Kolgujev, and woodland on Everon and Malden.

there is already a script that randomly places west and east starting locations, can it be altered to 'if this island, then this particular unit'?

I don't think it's that easy, but I'll add it to the list. Units are created via script, and starting locations for players are game logics

I have an idea how to do it, but another issue is that all players would have to have the same island textures selected, or someone could gain an unfair advantage I think. I know that the server doesn't care if we all have the same texture selected or not. Will post in the bi forums for advice about that, but I have a real good idea how to make at least some of the resistance defending units be different. It may come down to 1 defense squad will be generic, then the other resistance defense squads can be "special". With out experimentation, it's all just guessing right now.
I can lay out the specifics of my plan, but I don't know if anyone will get it, as I barely get it myself!

done some thinking about this and the 1st question is:
Isn't SLA "Opfor" or "East"
we need "RACS" or "Resistance"
Putting new SLA units would be possible but we would be in the wrong uniform when we travel islands
